UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Provincial Commission – Second Term Meeting, 2025

The second term meeting of the “Izmir Provincial Identification Committee for Intangible Cultural Heritage,” in which our Foundation serves as a permanent member and which operates under the Izmir Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, was held on 14 November 2025.

During the meeting, the nomination files for the “Tradition of Making and Sharing Yufka Bread” and “Yogurt Culture” were reviewed and submitted to the Ministry headquarters for inclusion in the Türkiye National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Applications for the Living Human Treasure (LHT) designation were also examined. The files submitted by Kadriye Yakar (Carpet and Kilim Weaving), Prof. Dr. H. Nurgül Begiç (Feltmaking), and Bedia Akartürk (Turkish Folk Music Vocal Artist)—including petitions and written/audio-visual documentation—were reviewed and forwarded to the Ministry headquarters for evaluation.
