Toy Researches / Central Anatolia – Cappadocia
The Soğanlı village of Kayseri province, known as the entrance gate of the Cappadocia region famous for its chimney rock and hımes embedded in rocks and rock churches, makes its livelihood from the rag dolls made by women. The Soğanlı Dolls, which reflect the traditional clothing culture of local women, came about 50 years ago when a grandmother made this toy for her grandson. These dolls, still handmade today, are sent as souvenirs to many countries of the world. Interviews are made with producers about Soğanlı Dolls and a compilation, research, and documentation is carried out.
