Negotiations were held by the Cultural Research Foundation between 14-26 April 2019 in Norway, France, Czechia and Slovakia, with a section of accredited NGOs under the UNESCO ICH Convention. Especially; area research methods, ethical values, the role of civil society in the protection of cultural heritage, examples of good practices in the intangible heritage, presentation and sharing of ICH elements in physical and digital environment-sharing and training studies, institutional structure of the interviewed NGOs mutual knowledge and experience sharing was conducted. In addition, interviews, determination and documentation studies were carried out in major museums in the field of Intangible Cultural Heritage in these countries.
18 April 2019, The meeting on the role of the accredited NGOs in UNESCO ICH Convention held at the UNESCO Headquarters, the Cultural Research Foundation (KAV) Research Program Coordinator Nihal Kadıoğlu Çevik attended the meeting.
A total of 120 NGOs with UNESCO accreditation from 55 countries and representatives of States Parties attended the meeting; on the basis of the comprehensive work document previously submitted, the main issues such as strengthening the consultancy roles of NGOs in the Convention and their role in projecting to individual-groups and communities, accreditation criteria and processes, ethical values, increasing capacity, budget factors were discussed.
The results of this consultation will be presented to the fourteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee on 9-14 December 2019 in Bogota, Colombia.
