Making of Eyüp Toy’s is an on-going tradition from the 17th century to the present day. Eyup district is named after the mausoleum of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari in the name of Eyüp Semti. The reason for the toys being here is the bringing of children who will be circumcised to Eyüp Sultan’s tombes, who are known to love children very much. The Eyup Toys in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Collection, where the last 28 products traditionally produced (such as tubmler, whistle pitcher, spinning top) are exhibited and documented by the Cultural Research Foundation.
